Do You Really Want Your Sins Forgiven?

Guest preacher George Khrone, from Zion Church of Christ, Lyons, TX delivered a stirring message that challenged listeners to reflect on their sincerity in seeking forgiveness. Using Luke 7:44–50 as the core text, he contrasted the repentant woman’s heartfelt devotion with the cold indifference of the Pharisee who merely went through the motions. George emphasized that many allow sin into their lives, and even their homes, without true repentance.
He warned that silence and skepticism, as shown in verse 39, reveal doubts about Christ and hinder forgiveness. Drawing from passages such as Luke 15:2, Acts 11:3, and Galatians 2:12–21, he exposed the dangers of judgmental hearts and shallow faith.
George highlighted Jesus' power to read hearts (Luke 7:40–43) and the urgency of the spiritual harvest (Matthew 9:36–38). The climax of the sermon pointed to the life-changing power of hearing Jesus say, “Your sins are forgiven” (Luke 7:48–50), a statement only those truly seeking forgiveness will hear.
He concluded by reminding the audience of the biblical steps to receive forgiveness:
-
Hear and believe – Acts 15:7
-
Repent – Luke 13:3,5
-
Confess – Matthew 10:32
-
Be baptized – Acts 2:38
The sermon was a compelling call to move beyond appearances and pursue authentic salvation.
