David's Last Words

On Sunday morning, March 10, 2024, Cole Tuck concluded his series "A Man After God’s Own Heart" with a sermon titled "David’s Last Words." Tekoa and Shimei

On Sunday evening, March 3, 2024, Cole Tuck continued his sermon series, "A Man After God’s Own Heart," with a message titled "Tekoa and Shimei." The sermon delved into the biblical narratives surrounding two lesser-known figures: the woman of Tekoa and Shimei.
The woman of Tekoa is an enigmatic character from the Hebrew Bible, appearing in 2 Samuel 14. She emerges in the aftermath of Absalom's exile following his murder of Amnon. Joab, seeking to reconcile Absalom with King David, dispatches to Tekoa to enlist the help of a "wise woman."

Shimei, on the other hand, is described as a Benjamite of Bahurim and the son of Gera. He belongs to "the family of the house of Saul" (2 Samuel 16:5–14, 19:16–23; 1 Kings 2:8–9, 36–46). Shimei gains mention as one of David's tormentors during his flight from Absalom and later as someone who pleads for David's forgiveness upon the king's return.

Cole explored the significance of these two characters within biblical contexts, drawing parallels between their actions and traits and providing insights into themes such as forgiveness, redemption, and the complexities of human relationships.

David’s Meaningful Sacrifice

In his morning sermon titled "David’s Meaningful Sacrifice," delivered on March 3, 2024, as part of his series "A Man After God’s Own Heart," Cole reflects on the concept of altars and sacrifice through the lens of King David. Tuck highlights an incident from 2 Samuel 24, where David's pride led him to rely on his fighting men instead of trusting in God's intervention for his nation. This error resulted in severe consequences for Israel. As an act of repentance, David was instructed to build an altar at a specific location and offer a burnt offering for his sin.

When David arrived at the designated place, the landowner offered to provide everything necessary for the sacrifice. However, David insisted on paying for it himself, expressing that he would not offer burnt offerings to the Lord his God that cost him nothing (2 Samuel 24:24, NIV). Tuck emphasizes the significance of David's attitude towards sacrifice, illustrating the importance of personal investment and sincerity in worship.

Through this story, Tuck encourages his audience to reflect on the depth of their own sacrifices and devotion to God, suggesting that true worship requires genuine commitment and personal investment rather than merely going through the motions.

Absalom's Theft

On the morning of February 25, 2024, Cole Tuck carried on his sermon series "A Man After God’s Own Heart" with a message titled "Absalom’s Theft”.   Absalom, who flourished around 1020 BC in Palestine, stood as the third and most beloved son of David, the king of Israel and Judah. Depicted in 2 Samuel 13–19, Absalom emerges as the Alcibiades of the Old Testament, exhibiting not only personal charm but also a reckless disregard for authority, leading to his tragic downfall.
