One Mind: One Voice Singing Workshop Part 5

On Wednesday evening, January 8, 2025, Don Marshall led the fifth session of the "One Mind: One Voice" congregational singing workshop, emphasizing the teachings of Colossians 3:16: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly." The session focused on antiphonal singing and explored four ways to glorify God through song: speaking, teaching, singing, and admonishing. 

 

Participants were encouraged to sing with clarity and purpose, ensuring their voices are loud enough to teach and on pitch. The discussion also included the types of songs Christians are to sing: psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.

One Mind: One Voice Congregational Workshop Part 4

On Tuesday evening, January 7, 2025, guest speaker John Orr conducted the fourth session of the "One Mind: One Voice" congregational singing workshop. The session provided practical tips to improve singing, including posture, breathing techniques, and vocal care, while emphasizing the importance of singing with thanksgiving and delivering a meaningful message. The workshop concluded with a call for everyone to mentor others in singing to strengthen congregational worship.

One Mind: One Voice Part 3

On Monday evening, January 6, 2025, guest speaker John Orr led the third session of the "One Mind: One Voice" congregational singing workshop. The session emphasized the biblical perspective of singing without instrumental accompaniment, highlighting that the human voice is the only instrument God desires to hear. 

 

Key topics included understanding musical markings and lyrics, singing in tune, and balancing vocal contribution with active listening. Participants were encouraged to listen attentively to the pitch, the song leader, and each other, with 20% of the focus on voice and 80% on listening.

One Mind: One Voice Part 2

On Sunday evening, January 5, 2025, guest speaker John Orr led the second session of the "One Mind: One Voice" congregational singing workshop. He emphasized the importance of being unified in heart and mind, drawing from Romans 15:5-6 to show how shared attitudes and voices glorify God. 

John discussed the practical aspects of blending voices in worship and highlighted the role of youth as valuable participants in fostering unity. He encouraged training young people in worship, helping them secure their hearts in God’s service, and creating a strong foundation for future congregational praise.
