Missionary Mentality

On Sunday, May 17, Cole Tuck delivered a powerful sermon titled “Missionary Mentality,” challenging Christians to embrace the mindset of true evangelism. Drawing from Matthew 28 and 1 Thessalonians 1:5, the message emphasized that every believer is called to share the Gospel, not just preachers or church leaders.

Cole contrasted the world’s “killer instinct” mentality, illustrated through athletes like Kobe Bryant, with the Christ-centered mindset believers should have when reaching the lost. He explained that effective evangelism is not about aggression, but about faithfully communicating the Gospel with words, evidence, conviction, and godly character.

The sermon highlighted four essential elements of biblical evangelism:

• Verbal Communication:  The Gospel must be spoken, not merely lived silently.
• Evidence:  Christians should support their faith with Scripture and reason.
• Passion & Conviction:  The Gospel is a life-changing truth and should be shared boldly and sincerely.
• Character:  A believer’s life must align with the message they preach.

Cole encouraged the church to examine what may be missing in their own evangelism and challenged believers to carry out the Great Commission with courage, authenticity, and compassion for souls. The message served as both a call to action and a reminder that God can strengthen every weakness as His people seek to reach others for Christ.
